Question 1Easy

Jake had been practising his spelling every day for a week. On the morning of the test, he walked into the classroom, sat at his desk, and opened his pencil case. He was smiling. What does Jake's behaviour MOST suggest?

A) He has forgotten about the test and is surprised it is today
B) He feels prepared and ready for the spelling test
C) He is happy because it is the last day of school
D) He has copied the words from his friend before class

Answer: Option B is correct — Jake practised every day and is smiling as he sits down. Practising hard and then smiling on test day suggests he feels ready.

Question 2Medium

Rufus the dog always ran to the door when he heard his owner's keys. But one afternoon, Rufus lay still on his bed and did not move, even when the keys jangled loudly. What does Rufus's behaviour MOST suggest?

A) Rufus has lost his hearing and can no longer hear the keys
B) Rufus is unwell or very tired and does not have his usual energy
C) Rufus has decided he does not like his owner anymore
D) Rufus is sleeping deeply and does not know his owner has arrived

Answer: Option B is correct — Rufus always ran to the door at the sound of keys. Not doing so when the keys jangled loudly — and lying still — suggests something is physically wrong: he is unwell or too tired to react normally.

Question 3Hard

Jasmine had always wanted a pet. One day, her parents surprised her with a small fluffy rabbit. She named it Snowball because of its white fur. Jasmine learned how to feed Snowball pellets and fresh vegetables. She made sure Snowball always had fresh water. Every afternoon, she let Snowball hop around the backyard. Snowball loved to dig in the garden and nibble on the grass. Why did Jasmine name her rabbit Snowball?

A) Because it liked the snow
B) Because of its white fur
C) Because it ate snowflake-shaped pellets
D) Because it was very cold

Answer: The passage says 'She named it Snowball because of its white fur'. The other options are not in the passage and are invented.
