Question 1 — Easy
'The fluffy white rabbit won first prize at the pet show.' Which underlined word is an ADJECTIVE?
Answer: 'Fluffy' is an ADJECTIVE — it describes what the rabbit is like. Adjectives describe nouns. 'White' is also an adjective in the sentence. Option A ('rabbit') is a NOUN — the thing being described. Option C ('won') is a VERB — the action. Option D ('prize') is a NOUN.
Question 2 — Medium
'The puppets _____ through tiny windows in the stage curtain.' Which verb correctly shows a PAST action?
Answer: 'Peeked' is the PAST TENSE of 'peek' — the action already happened. It is a regular verb: add '-ed' to make it past. Option A ('peeks') is present tense (third person singular). Option C ('peeking') is a present participle — needs a helper. Option D ('peek') is the base form (present).
Question 3 — Hard
Which word is an adverb of time in the sentence? 'We will present our science project tomorrow.'
Answer: An adverb of time tells us when something happens. 'Tomorrow' tells us when the students will present their project — it is an adverb of time. 'Present' in this sentence is a verb (to present = to show or display). 'Science' is an adjective or noun describing the type of project. 'Project' is a noun (the thing being presented).
