Question 1Easy

The table below shows the number of sandwiches sold at a school canteen each day: Monday | 18 Tuesday | 25 Wednesday | 11 Thursday | 30 Friday | 16 On which day were the most sandwiches sold?

A) Tuesday
B) Wednesday
C) Thursday
D) Friday

Answer: Thursday has the highest value of 30, making it the day the most sandwiches were sold. Tuesday (25) is the second highest and may attract students who misread the table, while Wednesday (11) and Friday (16) are both lower values.

Question 2Medium

The pictograph below shows how many meat pies were sold at four AFL games in Canberra. Each symbol (🥧) represents 5 pies. Game 1: 🥧🥧🥧🥧 Game 2: 🥧🥧🥧🥧🥧🥧 Game 3: 🥧🥧🥧 Game 4: 🥧🥧🥧🥧🥧 How many more pies were sold at Game 2 than at Game 3?

A) 3
B) 10
C) 15
D) 45

Answer: Game 2 had 6 symbols × 5 = 30 pies. Game 3 had 3 symbols × 5 = 15 pies. The difference is 30 − 15 = 15 pies. Option A is wrong because the student subtracted the number of symbols (6 − 3 = 3) without multiplying by 5. Option B is wrong because the student multiplied the symbol difference (3) by 5 but only partially applied the scale. Option D is wrong because the student added the totals instead of finding the difference.

Question 3Hard

The table below shows the number of stickers collected by five students: Tahlia | 9 Kai | 15 Eden | 6 Noah | 11 Ava | 3 Which student collected the most stickers?

A) Tahlia
B) Kai
C) Noah
D) Eden

Answer: Kai collected 15 stickers, which is the highest value in the table. Tahlia (9), Noah (11), and Eden (6) all collected fewer stickers than Kai.
